This wearable art project explores the intersection of geometry, nature, and fashion through the creation of a nautilus-inspired ear cuff. Using Bristol board as the primary material and folding and laser cutting techniques as the core construction method, the design draws from the mathematical elegance of the nautilus shell and the broader organic patterns of the marine world.
This work is both a sculptural fashion accessory and a reflection on the relationship between humans and the natural world, particularly endangered species like the nautilus.
Art, Geometry and Fashion
I plan to create a ear cuff inspired by the shape of the nautilus. I chose ear cuff because the spiral form of the nautilus have some similarities with the shape of the human ear. I will use folding techniques and repetitive construction of identical elements to create a geometric design that mimics the structure of the nautilus shell. The significance of this project lies in its aim to strengthen the connection between humans and nature while raising awareness about the importance of protecting endangered species and urging people to stop destroying natural ecosystems.
